Talatun “Tala” Brightcave was born in 2045 to a pair of dataslave parents. While she didn’t grow up with a lot – most creds her parents made went right back to making sure that they had a roof over their heads and food on their table – she always had the matrix to escape into. Her parents groomed her from birth to know how to handle technology. By the time she was 9, Tala could deck into most of the megacorp’s databases.
in ‘64, Tala lost both of her parents during the chaos and riots caused by the Matrix Crash 2.0. On her own for the first time, she quickly learned that her decking skills were not enough to help her survive. She found herself recruited into a crew that consisted of others who had lost something – or everything. Her crew quickly became her new family, and while she wasn’t always proud of the things they did, she stood by them fiercely.
During a run in ’74, she and several members of her crew were on the biggest run that any of them had ever been on. Despite the months of planning, and the confidence they had in their scheme, everything came crashing down around them. After being dumped from the Matrix, she awoke in a hospital, fragged and suffering from dumpshock. Afraid of being hit with a Criminal SIN, or leading the Man and his pawns to her team, she fled from the hospital in bad shape.
After going underground and slowly returning to health in an outskirt of Denver, Tala has decided that it’s time to find the rest of her crew. She lost a family once, and she has no intention of doing it again. Her contacts in the Matrix have it in good faith that if Tala goes to Seattle, she may be able to find at least one member of her old crew.
